Gift Card

My nephew loves to hunt and fish.  He just turned nine, so he's getting to the age that is a little difficult to buy for.  So, we got him the perfect gift, a giftcard.  I wanted to try my hand at making a giftcard-card that Dawn from dawnsstampingthoughts.com demonstrated.

I created a card that is centered around the sportsman theme.  I used hunter's orange, camo, and O.D. green. I embossed the C  and used stickers I bought from Hobby Lobby.  There really aren't any that fit the hunting motif.  (I guess rifles aren't exactly scrapper friendly:-)  Here is my card and envelope.  TFL.

An Unusual Cricut Project

I live in Southwest Louisiana. We have a saying, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute. It WILL change." Sometimes that's for the better, mostly it's worse. Our winters are more like short bursts of cool air, usually resulting in temperatures no lower than the mid 40s. Last year, it actually snowed on my birthday, December 11th. Tonight, it snowed again.

Since it was my little boy's first snow, I had to build a snowman for him. With some quick planning and gathering of materials, I used my Cricut and Snow Friends cart. to fashion a snowman. I had to work fast. The snow was melting fairly quickly as soon as it hit the ground.

Here is a pic of my Cricut Snowman.  As I said, the snow was melting quickly, so his arms didn't stand up to the conditions.  I think he was a cute first snowman all the same.

Falling in Backwards...

So, I am new to the whole scrapbooking scene.  If there is anything that I have learned from being a teacher, it is be prepared.  I stocked up my scrapping repetoire with everything a scrapper needs to get started. I began with a checklist:
  • Cricut Expression
  • Cartridges
  • Paper for every occasion and holiday
  • Crop-A-Dile
  • Embellishments
  • Stamps and ink
  • Embossing materials
  • Cuttlebug
O.K.  all items present and accounted for.  Now what?  I had all that I thought I needed.  All these items seem to be main stays on the other Bloggers' sites and YouTube tutorial videos.  I had to start somewhere.  So, instead of the beginning, I started with Halloween.  I figured taking on Chase's birth scrapbook would be very detailed and require a lot of creativity and craftsmanship that I had not yet mastered.  So, I started small.  I made a tissue paper roll mini album for my mom documenting Chase's first Halloween.

Here is my product.  This blog will be my journal of things created.  I hope to see growth in my endeavors over time.  We shall see what comes to pass!
